High school education; plus any combination totaling four years of college and/or law enforcement experience; completion of 20 weeks of enforcement in-service training following hire date; 21 years of age and in good physical condition; must be willing to locate anywhere in the State; must have good driving record. - Be a citizen of the United States.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Be a high school graduate or have attained a G.E.D.
- Must comply with one of the following conditions:
- Four years of college (equivalent of 116 semester hours with passing grades from a state accredited institution of higher learning) or;
- Four years of full-time certified law enforcement experience (Certification requirements based on existing standards as established by the applicable state regulatory agency at time of application) or;
- Four years of full-time documented military police experience with an honorable discharge or;
- Any combination of college, full-time certified law enforcement experience, or full-time documented military police experience that will satisfy the four years requirement (Ex: 58 passed college semester hours and 24 months of certified law enforcement experience as a deputy sheriff).
- Possess a valid driver’s license with good driving record
- Have no felony convictions.
- Be able to satisfactorily pass a thorough background investigation including drug testing.
- Be able to pass physical, psychological, vision and hearing exams as required by the Commission on Law Enforcement Standards.
- Be able to pass a physical fitness test.
- Possess the ability to swim a minimum distance of 50 yards.
- Be willing to accept assignment anywhere in the state.
- Be able to work varied hours including weekends and holidays.
- Be able to successfully complete the Commission’s intensive enforcement training course (a minimum of 20 weeks) at Mayflower, Arkansas.
